"Jesse has put together a buffet of musical delights with a combination of Blues, Soul, and Country with a side of twanbanger spice." -AmericanaRoots.com

My first meeting with Jesse Dayton came many years ago when I lived in Austin, Texas. The Austin Music Network recorded a live in studio show of Dayton and something about that show annoyed the hell out of me. I don't think it was all Jesse but more the fact that they played it ALL the time and I just didn't get it. Fast forward to 2005 and a copy of Jesse's latest album, Country Soul Brother and I can now say I get it. Jesse has put together a buffet of musical delights with a combination of Blues, Soul, and Country with a side of twanbanger spice. The first full spin of this CD had me baffled as to how someone can put together so many different types of sounds. The second spin had me intrigued and the third has me hooked. The dynamics of Dayton shines through on Country Soul Brother with a cover of The Car's tune One of Them Days to the folk sound of Jesus Pick Me Up and the finishing touches of the twangabilly tune entitled Talkin' Bobby Dale's Hard Luck Blues.

I can recommend this CD to anyone that digs flavor. If you're bland, this just ain't your thing but if spice is what you like then pick up Country Soul Brother tonight.
