Weeeeell let’s see. Received Dave Insley’s solo debut album, Call Me Lonesome, put it in the player, and I must say it wasn’t my pint of beer. Started off with "There’s Gonna Be a Few Changes," and it just didn’t catch me. Of course I’m gonna give it the benefit of the doubt and continue listening. Low and behold track 3 "Laid to Waste" started to tug me in. This song showed me Dave Insley’s style, which is a nice mix of classic honky tonk, and a little bit of rock and roll thanks to The Careless Smokers (backup band). Still, I’m not completely in and showing resistance, but still I must carry on. Finished the CD and while driving home, I decided to give it one more listen. Still not into at the beginning, but when "Roy Boy" started playing, I started to sing along. I stopped myself to make sure I wasn’t getting any what the hell is that guy saying looks from the chumps not listening to Americana music on their way home. So after listening to it more and more I realized I enjoy it more with time. It’s a good driving album if you ask me.
