Antsy McClain - Trailercana
Antsy and the Band have a legion of fans called Flamingoheads who travel to his shows. For some great laughs as well as some great music, I recommend you to visit his website www.unhitched.com. Here you can also see pictures of the actual ‘Flamingoheads" who all ponied up $100 for a ‘lot’ in Pine View Heights. The site reads "Proceeds from lot sales went to pay studio and production costs making it possible for us to get these songs to the world! Thanks Flamingoheads! You guys RAWK!" On the site they also have a picture of the CDs guest guitarist Lindsey Buckingham playing the bands signature guitar, The Airscreamer! Make no mistake though, this isn’t all comedy, there is some great music here as well. The songs just also happen to be clever and witty. The band has a rich full sound, complete with horns and organ.
We have the necessary love song, not a mushy ode to love but a tune called I Married Up, which Antsy calls his theme song and boasts about his lovely bride singing:
I married up
My life is sweet as a daydream
I married up
and now we’re living in her Airstream
I married up
I’m all about social status
I married up
She even knows who her dad is.
My favorite cut on the album is "Joan of Arkansas" which features Lindsey Buckingham on guitar and Bonnie Bramlett on vocals. It is the story Antsy heard about a woman who sets fire to her trailer and leaves an abusive relationship. Another catchy tune is his ode to love in Pine View Heights called "Full Moon Nights in Pine View Heights." "She had her eyebrows plucked thinner than a razor’s edge. She smelled like popcorn, Quaker State and Lemon Pledge."
Most segments of society have "their" song. While folks in the Big Apple have Frank’s "New York, New York" and the Parrotheads have "Margaritaville," the trailer park crowd has "Livin’ in Aluminum," which proclaims "There’s a lot to be said about contentment/Some folks never get enough/Let me ask you honey which is better?/A mansion full of money or a trailer full of love?" I recommend you go to Pine View Heights for the humor. Stay for the music!
